Golden Visa
The Portugal Residence by Investment program launched by the government in 2012 is also known as the Golden Visa. This residency by investment scheme for non-EU nationals is a fast-track program for obtaining a residence permit and ultimately citizenship through investment and has attracted investors the world over. The most popular investments are in Funds and the Art and Cultural Heritage options.

Elegibility
To be eligible for the Portuguese Golden Visa, applicants must be non-EU, non-EEA, and non-Swiss citizens who make a qualifying investment in Portugal.

Requirements
- Open a personal bank account and NIF in Portugal
- Compile personal documents for the main applicant and his/her dependents.
- Have a clean criminal record.
- Choose the investment and make the payment (ensure the funds for the investment arrive from outside of Portugal)
- Submission of all documents for validation.
- Attend the appointment scheduled by the Immigration office (AIMA) in Portugal for the biometrics to be taken and for submission of the original documents.
- Receive a temporary resident card valid for two years which will be renewed thereafter twice, for another two years.
- On completion of the 5th year, apply for permanent residence and / or Portuguese citizenship.

Art and cultural heritage - Donation
A non-refundable charitable contribution to preserve portuguese cultural heritage. It requires a €250,000.00 investment in artistic production, national cultural heritage maintenance.

Job creation
Creation of a minimum of ten new jobs or eight new jobs if in a low populationdensity area
Incorporation of a commercial company
It requires a €500,000.00 investment in the incorporation of a commercial company with registered office in Portugal, creating five permanent jobs.
